Cindy Lou Who Shoes: Perfect for Christmas!

No Amazon products found

One of my relatives learned about the style, and just had to find them, not for her teen, nor for her tween, but for herself.

Oh, the places you will go!

Oh, the things you will do!

Don't be surprised

If you turn around,

And find in tow, a fish,

Or Thing One and Thing Two.

Solid Colors

Solid colors are still quite popular among teens. I learned the hard way, however, last Christmas. There is a difference between "One Star" and "All Star". The "One Star" version, marketed by Target, is not cool, at least not in my teen daughter's circles.

The variety of colors is great, though your teen may opt for simple black shoes. Pastels, brights, there is a great selection, but if it's to be a surprise for your teen, do your detective work in advance.

Realize that in a single article, it would be difficult to represent every imaginable color and style available in Converse shoes.  It would be fun trying, of course.  However, featured below are some of the selections available at Amazon.  If you are familiar with Amazon's shipping advantages, be sure to look for Converse shoes which will avail you of free super saver or Amazon Prime shipping.  Also, as you peruse some of these selections further, Amazon has a great search refiner, allowing you to narrow the results by color.

Pay attention, if you are holiday shopping for your teens and tweens.  It's a bummer to open a gift, and find that Mom and Dad didn't understand that Converse All Star is cool, Converse One Star, not so much.  Ask me how I discovered this!  My teen wanted Converse shoes...simple style, nothing spectacular, but I flubbed big time!

Mix It Up A Bit

Aside from the traditional old-school Converse shoes, there are some really wild color combinations and variations available.  It's fun to see just how creative you can be with a pair of sneakers!  This is the basis for a fantastic math lesson  on attributes, and great for classification in science and biology.  If your middle school engages in interdisciplinary teaming, think about conducting a tennis shoe related thematic study amongst your young charges.

The language teacher can conduct an investigation of shoes in children's literature:  Cinderella, Puss in Boots, Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes.  Students can cooperatively work together to rewrite stories in modern terms, incorporating sneakers.  Have students enact and video record television commercials, advertising the upcoming sitcoms based on the children's tales of old.  Look out, iCarly!

The math teacher can conduct a statistical analysis of footwear for the week, having students in each class record and chart the styles and colors in the footwear.

The science teacher can have students study the materials used to make shoes, whether leather, rubbers, fabrics.  Study the durability and use of these materials, and find some ways to conduct scientific experiments which use shoes.  Brainstorm uses for old shoes and sneakers, and study some of the means of recycling such goods.

The history teacher can conduct a study of shoes in various cultures, and likewise, modern use of and need for shoes in various parts of the world.  The history of foot wrapping in China, for example, might be discussed.

Of course, the physical education department can be pulled into the activity, conducting a track and field meet.  And as a finale to the unit study, the entire team can enjoy a movie such as "Like Mike", along with snacks, and a drawing at the end for door prizes...maybe a pair of Converse, even!

Converse Plaid

Again, many colors to choose from, with plaid as the theme...if you love color, or plaid, or both, these are super fun!
