Cutting Costs With The Lastest Kindle Wireless Reading Device
59The Latest Money Saving Version of Kindle
More Features, Less Funds
The newest Kindle Wireless Reading Device just shot to the top of my holiday and birthday present list! Amazon has led the e book reader market, and the lastest releases and updates have sparked my interest. The costs are lower, and the applications, more extensive and useful. Amazon's details on Kindle indicate that it has been their number one best seller, most gifted and most wished for product, with outstanding high ratings. It's rave reviews are great, but for the economically minded, the practicality of such a device may be of concern. The lower costs of the various devices are just the beginning of savings, from my perspective!

The Kindle Fire is much more than an ereader, and presents itself as an exciting tablet computer choice for those who may find the more costly iPad too expensive. Kindle Fire is available for preorder, due to be released November 15, 2011, and will retail at $199. The tablet device will not only include ereading, but also video streaming, music playing, web browsing, email management, and document viewing. Additionally, the Kindle tablet will operate android apps available through the Amazon app store.
Amazon content won't be stored on the device, but rather, in a user's Amazon Cloud. Amazon content is stored free of charge, and additional storage can be purchased. Pricing makes this device an excitng choice, and the color rich use of various types of media makes it a viable alternative to many tech devices.
Savings Via Reading Materials
Living in a rural town with a small library, our reading resources are extremely limited. For my small children, this isn't a big deal, as they can check out any number of children's books, and repeats don't bother them. However, my teenagers are another story. They have read their favorite series over and over, and often have a hard time finding interesting materials within their range of interests. The classics shelf in the young people's section is minimal, and the books available have been read, and re-read.
Enter Amazon Kindle's access to free archived out of print classics! Instant, free access to tales such as Alice In Wonderland, Pride and Prejudice, and Treasure Island! My bookworms would be thrilled to have such an extensive library available at their fingertips. I'm thrilled. Further, Amazon's Kindle library has many books available at inexpensive prices, making it easy to keep my readers supplied with material, without breaking the bank. I have thought about iPod touch as a potential means of accessing these same savings, with the free Kindle app as the means to do so, but the cost of the new release of Kindle makes more sense. Further, the size of the iPod makes it somewhat hard on the eyes to read, and the Kindle's size is less likely to stress their young eyes. My iPhone is next to impossible to read out-of-doors, but the anti-glare feature of the Kindle ereader makes it useful in any venue.
Whereas a smart phone requires a monthly internet fee, the new 3G version of Kindle allows free 3G access (where available). The wireless only device will, of course, depend on access to a wireless network, but this has become more commonly available in homes, as well as in local hot spots. Additionally, the new Kindle e book readers have web-browsing capabilities, making them useful for online research and internet use.
Savings for Home Schoolers
As a homeschooling parent, I find curriculum can be expensive, and am often looking for inexpensive materials. Amazon's choices in e-readers put an amazing library at my fingertips for easy incorporation into my lessons. Many literature selections needed for the language portions of my materials are available through Kindle. Further, for the relaxed schooling setting, the selection of reading materials can keep our students well supplied!
The Kindle store as a whole is a great resource for the avid reader. Two of my teens love Tolkein, and through the use of Kindle, will be able to track down interesting selection beyond the popular Lord of the Rings series.
Kindle has a built in dictionary, and has a search feature that allows for searching through dictionary, annotations, and books. Wireless access to Wikipedia also brings the element of an encyclopedia to Kindle. Educationally speaking, the Kindle Wireless Reading Device is a fantastic investment.
More Uses that Save
Kindle allows for reading samples of many books before purchasing, making it possible to evaluate the book before you spend.
Kindle allows you to read on whichever device you choose. Therefore, you can read from your phone, computer, or Kindle, picking up where you left off. With one account, it makes it possible for several family members to enjoy the same book. This is a nice feature for homeschoolers who have more than one child studying the same piece.
Savings with Amazon Digital Content
Having used Prime shipping through free trials, I really found the service convenient, and cost effective. If you order from Amazon frequently, then the cost of regular shipping may well be more than the $79/year subscription to Prime. However, along with your Prime subscription, you have access to a growing library of free instant video selections, which will be compatible with Kindle Fire. Divide that subscription fee over a 12 month period, and your monthly cost for the free instant video, and shipping, is $6.58. This is almost $2.50 less than the monthly subscription to Netflix instant watch. Don't be surprised if more savings options appear in the future.
I'm always looking for cost effective gifts and choices, particularly for my tweens and teens, and write many articles from that point of view. You may also appreciate reading about assorted Tween Tech gift ideas, and read about ereader gift choices and comparisons.
